I couldn’t get home quick enough last night, as all I wanted to do was crawl into the fetal position and stay there for, well, EVER. If it wasn’t one thing, it was something else… Over and over… all day long.
Opting not to take hideout, I decided to shake off the bad day, and focus on today, Friday! So in honor of it being Friday, thank goodness, I came up with a virgin cocktail to celebrate. A mixture of peach, honey dew, and lime, finished with a dusting of cayenne… mmmm.
I love how the cayenne sprinkled on top takes on a creme brulee feeling (although, that’s not what I was going for, ha). I was also thinking, it would be interesting to make this into a ‘real’ cocktail and lace the edge of a martini glass with cayenne pepper (think, margarita salt style).
The cayenne will linger on your lips, while the melon, lime, and peach cool off the kick. A nice balance.
Melon Spice Cocktail
2 cups diced honey dew melon
3 small peaches (2 large)
1 lime peeled
sweetener of choice, I used a dash of stevia
a couple handfuls of ice
Throw all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend away. Pour into glasses and dust with cayenne pepper.
Pretty simple, huh? I really love honey dew, but often have a hard time judging the ripeness, and nothing is worse than paying an arm and leg for a fruit and having it be bad… not fun. Supposedly, you can judge the ripeness by color; greenish white = immature, creamy yellow = mature. However, I’ve found that usually all melons look the same color at the store, ha, insert me staring and analyzing honey dew for hours in produce isle… a total mess fest.
I’ll keep this post short and sweet, as I’ve got about a million things to do before heading home for the weekend (finally getting these stitches out of my mouth, yay!). So any who, hope everyone has a great friday!
