Tuesday I woke up with a burnt face thanks to a bottle of retin-A. It hurt like hell. Yesterday, it still hurt, and left me sort of resembling a child who licks their lips too much, with a chapped 2″ radius. Except, instead of being 6, I’m 26 – awesome.
Singed face aside, approximately 60 seconds after awakening, I dropped a huge glass mug on my tile floor and it shattered everywhere. If you’ve ever dropped glass on tile, you understand the exact mess I had on my hands. I also sliced my thumb from side to side – and of course, not from dropping the glass, but instead, picking up the broken glass…
After cleaning up the war zone, I showered and plopped my hair for about 30 minutes. As I went to blow-dry my hair I noticed my comb was covered in globs of conditioner… WTF, I forgot to rinse my hair! While I seriously considered blowdrying my hair as is, I knew after the morning’s tale of terrible events, by proceeding with that plan something horrible was bound to happen. Instead, I stuck my head over the tub and re-rinsed.
Needless to say, I drove to work thankful for a thing called “flex hours”.
I’ll spare you the details following yesterday morning, but let’s just say, mornings really do determine the rest of your day.
Today, however, is a new day. I haven’t broken, cut, or burned anything (yet), and, my face is on the mend. Today, is going to be a good day.
Good Day Parfait (I’m a poet, and you know it…)
coconut yogurt*
chopped pineapple
seeds from one pomegranate
* for the coconut yogurt – combine the meat of 5 coconuts + the water from 1 + about a tsp of probiotics. Blend until smooth. Place yogurt in an airtight container for about 12 hours at room temperature. Once fermented, place in refrigerator.
Layer yogurt, pineapple and pomegranate seeds. Viola, a super quick breakfast or afternoon snack – and, it’s chocked full of tummy loving probiotics.
Girl On Raw actually posted a step-by-step for coconut yogurt earlier this week, click here is you need further instruction.
I’m stoked for this weekend, as the bestie is having her annual holiday party – which, usually equates into good food, good company, and of course, a few good shenanigans. Sunday will suck, but it will be worth it
(always is).
Happy Friday!
